The two men, Roger Ganketcha , 37, and Donovan Paul Tamo, 38, who has a German passport, both resided at Santana Hotel Qawra, and were involved in a theft committed last Saturday at around 12pm.
Mr Tamo was accused of stealing over €2,329.37 from a vehicle parked in Valletta, while Mr Ganketcha was accused of acting as an accomplice and of handling stolen property. The car belongs to Michael Mercieca, a property negotiator.
Mr Mercieca allegedly got to know Mr Tamo through Mr Ganketcha. He took Mr Tamo to view a property in Valletta but upon returning to the car he realised that he had left the keys inside the property. He hurried back to the property, leaving the car with Mr Tamo inside, but the Cameroonian disappeared with the cash which the victim left in the car. The two were traced through Mr Ganketcha.
