The new recruits will be specifically put at the disposal of the Presidential Guard (GP) and the Rapid Deployment Battalion (BIR).
The drafting that will take place from 1st November to 17 December 2010 at a location, which is yet to be disclosed concerns Cameroonian male and female nationals, whore are single, aged between 18 and 23 years, and with primary school certificates or any other equivalent diploma.
They will be trained as 'commandos' to carry out sensitive missions, such fighting pirates in Cameroonian territorial waters, as well as highwaymen, also called "highway robbers" who are very active in the northern part of the country and near the borders with Nigeria, Chad, and the Central African Republic (CAR).
This recruitment exercise is taking place to compensate for the reduction in the army numbers, especially in some of its operational sections, which is considered detrimental to national security.
